CAN Dance Fall 2024
presented by the minnesota dance Theater & school (MDT)
1) Roots and Wings LLC executed a 2 month community engagement campaign to enroll middle school students in a tuition-free dance program.
2) Roots and Wings LLC provided program management for the CAN Dance Fall 2024 program, beginning the session with 22 middle school students registered from low income families of the Twin Cities metro area. The 3 month dance program included rideshare services for 7 households by Hitch, an immigrant-owned startup and dance wear provided in partnership with local businesses.

“When I asked for Alanna’s dramaturgical support for my first self-produced project I wasn’t sure what I needed. She observed us through the rehearsal process and each time I felt supported and more connected to the work, my collaborator, and my vision. In bearing witness to our process she was able to express her questions and impressions in such a way that clarified my vision while the work was still in a state of becoming. Co-presented by the Imperial Corps Agoodjié of the African Diaspora and The Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI)—women’s leadership conferences that focuses on the collective history of militant resistance in the African Diaspora.
