AMVTP presented "Yam, Potatoe an Fish!” to Minnesota audiences in October 2018, in a split bill with Choreographer-Dancer Jonathan van Arneman (Sint Maarten/Minnesota). "Yam, Potatoe an Fish!” was cited as Minneapolis Star Tribune’s Best of Dance that year and Alanna was recognized as City Pages’ Best Choreographer and Artist of the Year.
The work reflects a deeply personal journey researching the notion of HOME and was to be presented back in her hometown of New York City in June 2020 by Gibney Dance Center. Those performances and the in-person master classes were cancelled due to COVID-19.
In an attempt to share the work with the world, Alanna is launching the “Yam, Potatoe an Fish!” watch party + LIVE interview with J. Bouey in hopes of creating more dialogue about immigration and cultural identity as well as to lift up the role of the arts to connect us to each other and help us better understand the world we live in.
Your engagement is such a gift at this time and ensures that artists can continue to create. If you cannot give you will not be turned away. Please come! If you are in a position to contribute more, please do. All donations go to performance fees for 11 collaborators in new work Alanna is bringing at the Cowles Center in March 2021.
We look forward to seeing and hearing from you!
